Band Aid 30 con One Direction, Bono e Chris Martin

Torna dopo 30 anni il progetto Band Aid sulle note del celeberrimo brano “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”. La nuova versione della canzone scritta nel 1984 da Midge Ure e Bob Gelgof è stata registrata negli Sarm West Studios di Londra lo scorso 15 novembre ed è già da oggi in vendita nei digital stores. A partecipare al progetto sono stati alcuni dei nomi più amati della scena musicali britannica, dai One Direction ai Bastille, da Ed Sheeran a Emeli Sandé. Alla registrazione ha preso parte anche Bono degli U2 che è così l’unico cantante ad aver contribuito a tutte e tre le edizioni del progetto Band Aid, quella originale del 1984, quella del 2004 e quella di quest’anno ribattezzata Band Aid 30, finalizzata alla raccolta di fondi per aiutare le popolazioni africane colpite dal virus Ebola.
Difficile immaginare che questa nuova versione possa avvicinarsi al risultato ottenuto dall'originale che vendette quasi 12 milioni di copie nel mondo e rimase per cinque settimane alla numero uno delle classifiche inglesi. La versione pubblicata nel 2004 si fermò invece a 1,17 milioni di copie vendute.

Per la versione 2014  il testo della canzone è stato leggermente adattato.
